All the excitement and creativity of the big game, minus the tackling.
ABOUT THE EVENT
One of AMA Philadelphia’s most highly anticipated events, the Superbowl Smackdown features a panel-style, post-event analysis of this year’s ads from the biggest advertising event of the year!
Our 2022 Smackdown panel features marketers from Fortune 100 companies and tier one agencies. They provide unique insights and critical analysis of this year’s ads, as components of comprehensive marketing campaigns. YOU get to weigh in alongside our panel by voting for your favorites!
SEE YOU ONLINE AT SMACKDOWN 2022
Superbowl Smackdown has long been a favorite networking event and homecoming for members and volunteers alike. This year’s event will be 100% virtual. Zoom links will be sent to all registrants prior to the event.
PRE-SMACKDOWN CHALK TALK
Before our panel of “Monday morning marketing quarterbacks” take their positions, join Smackdown moderator Michael Solomon as he shares more on his recent publication – The New Chameleons: How to Connect with Consumers Who Defy Categorization (Kogan Page). Michael reveals how consumers’ evolving relationships with marketers and brands require a different mindset in today’s fragmented sales environment. This is an interactive conversation in which questions are encouraged, especially from collegiate chapter members.
2022 COMPETITIONS
For Collegiate Chapters: AMA Philadelphia announces the return of The Philly Bowl for 2022!
We’re proud to announce the 2022 Philly Bowl, our ivy covered competition for AMA collegiate chapters that coincides with Smackdown. In this competition the rules are as few as they are simple: The collegiate chapter with the highest number of members in attendance at Superbowl Smackdown wins a prize worth far more than bragging rights. As in years past, the winning collegiate chapter wins an on-campus event (which can be virtual) comprised of:
- A State of Marketing Update from the AMA Philadelphia Chapter President
- A Q&A session on what’s going on in marketing and secrets for landing a job in marketing as an undergrad and as a graduating senior.
- Individual resume critiques and interviewing tips from both chapter leaders and a professional in a recruiting / HR capacity who searches and places candidates for jobs in marketing. This last prize is exclusive to registered AMA Collegiate chapter members only.
The winning chapter is determined by the number of members in attendance as of Smackdown’s kick-off so get your collegiate chapter members registered ASAP to ensure your delegation is in the running. Past winning chapters include: Rutgers University Camden, St. Joseph University, and Drexel University. You gotta be in it to win it!
For Professional Chapters: AMA Philadelphia announces the inaugural Professional Chapters Visitor Cup!
In the venerable tradition of Philadelphia’s world renowned marketer, Benjamin Franklin, we are committed to capturing lightning in a bottle no matter the weather. Just as Mr. Franklin turned a lightning storm into an opportunity to experiment with electricity, the Philadelphia chapter is experimenting with taking our event national, virtually, during this socially inclement pandemic.
The AMA professional chapter with the largest delegation registered for Superbowl Smackdown will receive much more than a cup! It’s a gift box chock-full of Philly’s most delectable delights to share among your members. That’s right! A box brimming with:
- Freshly baked Philly soft pretzels and bagels,
- Philadelphia-brand cream cheese,
- A selection of delicious Tastykake pastries,
- Bags of Utz Potato Chips and Herr’s Fire Roasted Sweet Corn Popcorn,
- And the crowning culinary jewel: a package of Habbersett Scrapple!
The winning chapter will be determined by the number of members (greater than 3) in virtual attendance as of Smackdown’s kick-off, so get your professional chapter members registered ASAP to ensure your chapter is in the running. You gotta be in it to win it!
